Seismic Retrofit
Description:
The Capitol Records Building Seismic Upgrades Project upgrades the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems of the building’s core and shell. The project team goal is to protect and restore any affected historic features, such as the exterior facade and interior elements, including the historic lobby and recording studios.
Construction includes partial demolition and rebuilding of floor slabs, walls, ceilings, and architectural features, as necessary. Rated shaft walls will be added to the structure where needed. Additionally, the existing 2nd floor and high roofs will be re-roofed, and accessibility upgrades will be implemented.
