Jefferson Park, 1 Jackson Place
Cambridge, Massachusetts
Description: In 2018, the Cambridge Housing Authority completed the redevelopment of Jefferson Park State, a major construction project which involved the demolition of four existing brick structures. These structures were replaced with six new state-of-the-art buildings containing a combination of townhouses and flats. This revitalization project followed years of master planning work by the CHA and its residents on the future of JP State Apartments. The revitalized JP Apartments provide 104 high-quality, energy-efficient, healthy apartments and improved the Rindge Ave streetscape with well-designed buildings and new open space. In addition to greatly improved unit interiors, the site itself has been improved through pedestrian-friendly design changes and by restoring original city street grid to reconnect the development with the surrounding neighborhood. Residents were relocated during construction and were invited to return once the new buildings were completed in 2018.
