The Thacher School, Creative and Technology Building

Description: The Thacher School is a selective, co-educational, independent boarding school located on 427 acres (1.5 km²) of hillside real estate overlooking California’s Ojai Valley. Originally founded in 1889 as a boys’ school, it has grown into the oldest co-ed boarding school in California.
As part of their Next Peak project, they have invested $30.75m in a new Creativity and Technology Center. This building is the first step in a campus-wide strategic effort to reimagine their learning environment.
Scope of Work: For this project, Fenagh is providing onsite testing and inspections of concrete, steel, and seismic assembly/wood. The concrete testing included inspections of elevator pit/slab, footings/grade beams, column baseplates, walls, slab on grade, and encloser slabs. The steel inspections included testing of erection/member verification/bolting, field welding/UT/MT, and misc steel/stairs. The testing of seismic assembly/wood included hold down inspections, shear wall/sheathing nailing/framing, and roof/floor diaphraghm nailing.
Fenagh is also performing laboratory testing & inspections including concrete compression testing, non shrink grout, WPS review, and mix designs. Learn more about Fenagh’s services here.
